Amour

Synopsis: Georges and Anne are an elderly but active couple whose lives are thrown into turmoil when Anne suffers a stroke.  Although she’s determined to maintain her independence, her condition worsens and they both struggle to adjust to their new way of life.

What can I say? Moving, thought-provoking and incredibly sad, at times this is hard to watch.  The performances are pitch perfect, and 100% convincing – at no point would you think they aren’t genuinely in love. It is a little long, and slow-moving but given the subject matter this kind of works.

Final thoughts: All the award nominations and wins were justified.  You should watch this film.
